Every policy in SchooliP can have one or more owners assigned. Owners are responsible for maintaining and updating the policy. Assigning ownership helps ensure accountability and makes it clear who is responsible for keeping each policy up to date.
Assigning a Policy Owner
Go to Edit Policy
In the Details or Workflow section (depending on your setup), locate the Owner field
Select one or more staff members to assign as policy owners
Save your changes
What Ownership Means
Editing Rights: Owners are the only people who can edit the policy.
Responsibility: Owners are accountable for updating the content, scheduling reviews, and managing approvals.
Reminders: Owners will receive reminders when the policy is due for review or requires action.
If No Owner is Set
All users with Policy Administrator rights will be able to edit the policy.
This can be useful for trust-wide or shared policies but may reduce clarity about responsibility.
Best Practice
Always assign at least one owner to each policy.
For key policies, consider assigning multiple owners (e.g., a senior leader and a department lead) to provide backup.
