Setting the standards

The Teachers’ Standards set a clear baseline of expectations for the professional practice and conduct of teachers and define the minimum level of practice expected of teachers in England.

They were initially created by an independent review group of leading teachers, headteachers and other experts.

So, how are teachers meant to use them effectively? Click here to read more from our insight.

Making observations count

As education has evolved, over the decades, monitoring seems to have remained a fixed entity, as deemed by many, they are the most effective method in identifying the quality of teaching and learning.

Observations of teaching and learning have been an important feature in the majority of schools since they became a key part of the Ofsted inspection process. It is only recently that the validity of the traditional lesson observation is being questioned.

Find out more about how monitoring has evolved and how it can be supported in SchooliP.
