Kyna Adkins is the Deputy Headteacher at Lincoln St Christopher’s School. This is a special school for pupils with learning difficulties and autistic spectrum disorders. In an account management meeting, we spoke to Kyna about her experiences of using our performance management system, SchooliP. We asked her to comment upon what staff liked about the system.
Staff like the fact that they can they can uploaded their evidence to demonstrate their performance. Also the standards review is popular and teachers can clearly see what is expected of them. We then enquired about the impact of SchooliP on the teaching body.
All staff are now taking greater ownership of their professional development. This means that appraisals and performance management are more of an ongoing process rather than just something that is done at the beginning, middle and end of a year.
SchooliP allows objectives for Individuals, departments and the whole school to be directly linked to the school’s development plan. SchooliP’s intuitive system means duplication of effort is avoided. Prior to using SchooliP, a paper based system was used at Lincoln St Christopher's which was considered to be lengthy and inefficient. It is apparent that the school now has greater focus towards meeting whole school objectives.
When asked to comment on what she would say to other schools considering SchoolIP, Kyna had a very succinct message!
